Located amongst the mountains of Fort Collins, Colorado, Colorado State University is an excellent option for international students interested in studying abroad in the United States. With over 250 difference programs of study to choose from, Colorado State has an option for a wide variety of different career choices and paths. Colorado State has a diverse student population, with about 6.9% of the entire student population being international students. A high international student population, combined with a beautiful campus and endless opportunities, makes Colorado State an extremely enticing option for international students.

Fort Collins is a developing tech community, with approximately 20,000 jobs added in the past five years with a shortage of workers to fill those spots. According to CSU, 84% of graduates land jobs related to their career paths. Overall, the state of Colorado’s tech sector employment grew 34.1%, which equals almost 28,000 jobs. Some fast growing tech companies in Colorado include Viveze Medical, Choozle, and Mersive Technologies. In the past year, Colorado has sponsored nearly 6,500 work visas.

Application Requirements

Like all United States colleges and higher education programs, CSU has an application(s) that international students need to complete in order to be considered for acceptance. There are a number of different requirements that need to be fulfilled. These include:

  • Your official transcripts from any secondary school you may have attended. If the transcripts are not in English, you will need to get a certified translation of them.
  • The minimum GPA of incoming freshman was 3.30
  • ACT/SAT scores. The average ACT was 23-29, and the average SAT combined was 1120-1300.
  • You will need to score at least 550 (paper-based), 79 (internet-based on the TOEFL. The IELTS minimum score is 6.5.
  • There is no minimum GRE score requirement. Please contact your prospective college/department for information on a preferred or minimum GRE score.

CSU require three letters of recommendation. There is no requirement for personal statements or essays. That likely depends on the school or program that you are applying to. Please double check with that school or program to see if it is required of you, and to see if any other information is needed.
