Top 10 Public Universities for International Students

  1. University of Virginia

Our list is topped off by the University of Virginia. Spanning 1682 acres, the school has a total enrollment of about 16,000 undergraduates and about 6500 graduates. Located in Charlottesville, he school has a very rich history as it was founded by Thomas Jefferson and houses one of the 25 original copies of the Declaration of Independence. What puts it so high on our list of top universities in the U.S. is great amount of student satisfaction given its 97% freshmen retention rate, along with its 15:1 student-faculty ratio, ensuring more engagement per student despite its large size.

  1. University of California-Los Angeles

At The University of California-Los Angeles, there are 377 degree programs offered at the university with an enrollment of around 31,000 undergrads and 13,000 graduate students. It’s second on this list of top U.S. universities because it has many academically rigorous schools, including the prestigious Anderson School of Management graduate school which is a great school to get an MS in the US. Academics isn’t its only calling card though as it offers 800 student organizations as well. Not to mention, the weather stays heavenly throughout the year.

  1. University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

Though not quite as warm as some of the other universities on this list, Michigan, it still packs a punch academically and athletically. They are a force to be reckoned with o the gridiron, while also having top ranked programs. In particular, its engineering school, which is number 5 best engineering school for graduates. In regards to individual departments, eleven of them are ranked in the top ten in the country, including their Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences department, which is ranked number one.   1. University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

Nicknamed the Tar Heels, UNC was founded in 1789. Student activities are plentiful with its newspaper and student run radio being some of the more popular organizations to join. The college is located in Williamsburg, Virginia and actually gets its name from being the second oldest college founded by King William III and Queen Mary II of England in 1693. Adding to its already rich history, the university contains the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity, the nation’s first academic Greek society. It’s 12:1 student-faculty ratio combined with its top 10 rank for Best Undergraduate Teaching, the college features a high level of academic engagement from its staff.
